"Steal This Book of Shadows"

Daydreaming or Visualization, zoning-out or creating art, it all takes Imagination. In magic, it's been likened to the celluloid in a motion-picture projector: "It's what you're putting out there". Well, at least it what it looks like. If you can't see in your mind what you want to have happen, how can you be sure that it's the spell you cast that did it? Most wiccans will say "You just know", but for a true practitioner of The Art, that's not good enough. We're here to get our concrete results, not vagaries & generalities. Whenever you cast a spell of any kind, try to visualize the result. Not just sight, but as many senses as you can summon up. What temperature is it there? Is the wind blowing, when the spell takes effect? Where's the Sun or Moon? What season is it? Do you smell rain, barbeque, or wood smoke? As we get in touch with our temporal lobes, these won't just be imaginings, but actual data, receptions from the scene where &when your castings take effect. What this helps with is preparing expectation. The sense will come, with practice, but to expect it to come is the first part. "Experience creates reality" therefore "Expectation precedes outcome". You have five material senses (as your brain breaks them down), and the more you are able to summon in your visualizations, the more lucid your castings and immediate & dramatic your results. I mention this attribute first for, without it, you are the blind trying to compose calligraphy! It just can't be done. Work with this first This isn't used simply in spell-casting, but in development of ESP, Remote Viewing, Astral Projection, and more. Most "Guys" have had it drilled into them, from an early age, that a healthy imagination is unhealthy. Their led to believe that it's some-how feminine, or make them sissies, or wishy-washy. To those who have been subjected to this mode of thinking, "I don't envy you. You have much to overcome." For you, I suggest watching a movie. Yes, that's what I said. A movie you can truly "Get In To". The big-brain term for this is "Suspension of Disbelief". It's the best jumping-off point for Imagination. You already know how to do it.
What's a good way to learn this? Pick up a book on Creative Writing. You aren't simply looking to "throw magic at them/it/that-thing, but to Author Reality as a whole. You're practicing Magic, and, in accord with the laws of Infinite Knowledge, Infinite Universes, and Cause & Effect, the more clearly you perceive influence the more you impose your reality. These books have lots of good techniques for making yourself a 'fly on the wall' in many different ways. At this point, as well, I would like to start directing you to exercises (Appendix A) that will help in this Internal Mechanism. Most, if not all, will effect multiple attributes & skills, so don't be surprised if you see the same ones in different entries. Let begin, Shall We? Exercise One: How So See Auras (AKA: "The Sight") The first of these exercises is geared towards helping you actually see the basic tool we'll be using throughout our workings. The Aura is how you'll be reaching out to & through the rest of the world, it will be the clay you mold into your spells, and the barrier you'll be using to keep others' spells from effecting you. The usual amount of time it takes to see an aura is about 20 seconds, in a larger group. Alone, there may be difficulty. The first being that you do need a living subject for this exercise. The other is that there is no-one to guide you. This is where having a teacher helps. I'm sorry that I can't be everywhere. I have heard that the book Celestine Prophecies goes into the left-to-right eye coordination & the corneal fluctuation that helps "Get a Lock" for Aura Perception. I'm not certain. Give me a week to find & read the book, and I'll update/Addend this section as I am able. Stay Tuned. Another thing worth mention: The book was too damned trendy for me to take seriously. Too many people raving about it, I automatically assumed it "Lowest Common Denominator" text. I think I'll give it it's 'Day in court', now. Remember: This isn't a new ability, but an old one we're learning to re-assert. You've always had it, but have been taught to 'blind-spot' it, to keep it out of focus. It isn't just the eye, either. It triggers Extra-Sensory Perception, as well, but in Real-Time, as the techies say. The orange sheet & candle aren't the only way you'll see auras. They just give you a better visual contrast upon which to 'get a lock'. It's like a targeting computer thing: External Hardware meets targeting software. This brings the two together. It will also show you that this isn't fantasy-gamer make-believe. Seeing is believing. Exercise Two: ESP Calisthenics This one pushes beyond standard visualization, and helps cultivate synethstesia. A wonderful tool to help process ESP. This one helps work with the mental concept of "personal space" which can severely hamper magical practices. It also helps develop said "personal space" as a sense. Suggested Reading: "Mind Games" by Masters & Huston "The Psychic Energy Workbook" by Sterling Publications is a grand, heavily illustrated guide on "Games to Play with The Aura!",
