E.S.P. or Perception

(Brought To You By,...)

After the aura and defense, the next thing to work on is strengthening Extra Sensory Perception. Really what it is can be defined as "Non-Standard Perception". We can't rule out that it isn't, at times, attached to other senses, nor that it isn't identical to the same mechanisms that other senses work by. What we can say is that it doesn't function the same way as other senses.

Let's take a Look at the other senses:

(No, I'm not gonna' bore you with bio-chem. 101, or take you through a re-hash!)

What I want to look at here, is the way the data reaches the brain. Almost all of the other senses function by routing data through a little switchboard in the middle of the brain, called the hypothalamus.  All but one other.

The sense of smell.  It's signal goes straight from the olfactory bulb to the brain. No signal filtering, like with the "Other Four"* senses. This is what we call a near-direct Brain Experience, and the closest in comparison to what you'll experience with Extra-Sensory Perception.

(From here on, we're just going to call it "Perception", or "The Sight")

Now, the area of the brain reported to house this Perception is the Temporal Lobes. If you looked at the brain like a cartoon character, these would look like it's feet. They're the long extended lobes, far-left and far-right, just below the Lateral fissure, at the base of the Longitudinal fissure. Here's a Gross-Looking Picture of the brain:

When we experience impulses here, they will closely resemble (neuro-chemically) the sense of smell: A Direct Brain Experience. So, here is a little mental calisthenics to get in touch with this effect.

We Call This next exercise, Exercise Two-Point-Oh: Temporal Lobes (Read Both Descriptions, here & there)

Now, we read about the aura , and if you were successful in the experiment, you can even see it at this point. What I need you to do now, is flow it out through your fingertips, extending like cat's claws (only Softer!). What you'll be doing is reaching out to stimulate your temporal lobes.

With your first layer extending from your fingertips, stroke the sides of your skull that house these lobes. Feel the energy extend from your fingertips, through the tissue, and brush against and into your temporal lobes. Notice any sensation changes you have. I don't mean 'write them down', but that could help, if you think/feel you should. Hey! What about your "Book of Shadows"?

        Not getting anything?

Double check a couple of things:

Firstly, is the aura actually extending?

Get whatever Orange article you're using as a trigger to bring back "The Sight", and hold your hand in front of it. Once you've reasserted The Sight, focus, exercise, and flow through your fingertips until you start getting a reaction from your aura through them. Remember that managing your aura is also an experiment in relaxation. Play with your aura! Play is a very powerful emotional state, coupling joy & bravery, the freedom to try new things. Emotion feeds the aura, and those are two really good ones!

Secondly, are you in an environment conducive to this experiment?

If there's a world of distraction going on about you, it's going to be hard for a first time practitioner to focus, let alone be sensitive to subtle brain changes.

Now, you don't want to start these temporal-lobe activation exercises without a goal. One of my students built up her neural activity levels without actually using them. The effect was similar to making as tight a fist as you can without effect or release. The resulting synaptic static was resulting in migraine headaches. A resulting PET scan displayed the exceptional results of her exercises, but if you aren't reaching-out with them, your just going to burn them out: "An archer doesn't just pull the string and hold it".

Now, were going to try to extend the information reception of the information that comes in: I call it...

Exercise Two: ESP Calisthenics (Cut a guy some slack. Like I said, "These Exercises aren't written in a particular order").

What this exercise is geared to do is to cross-reference the data through as many senses as possible, to give you the widest palette for your temporal lobes to paint with. This palette will be mandatory in Astral Projection exercises, in future installments.

After you've become comfortable with the above two concepts, try this one...

Exercise Three: ESP Development

It's geared to actually exercise your Perception. "Crawl Before You Walk" Card Exercises are best. After you've built-up your skill with "Black vs Red", try "Face vs Numbered" Card Tests. I'll leave the Probability Cross-Check to you for now.

I have a serious Thunderstorm Coming In, and Must Cut It Off Here!
