Psychic Self Defense Part #1
(Brought To You By,...)
This isn't really a topic for quick-fixes & half-baked "How-To"s. You need to develop Faith in your abilities, faith in your defenses, and time to experiment with different techniques, finding those that work best for you. I was also under the impression that I had broached this subject already, and can't find the anything resembling it.
No Time like the present
(accept, maybe, the past)
The core line of defense is first, as always: "Know Thyself"!!!
Any time that you are being attacked metaphysically, it will take the following forms:
-
Altering The Aura (Draining, infecting, influencing)
-
Altering Your Mind (Telepathic Commands)
-
Altering your body (Psycho-kinesis)
I'll run through a short list, that should give you Ideas & source material for further research. Remember: "You're a Metaphysicist, Now!", and the path is what I'm presenting, not the goal! This book is to get you moving in the right direction! The serious, advanced power is what you develop yourself, based on these precepts and Self Knowledge! Neil Gaiman had it right when he wrote "A secret no one knows is the most powerful secret of all"!
Anytime you're being attacked, metaphysically or otherwise, what it is effecting? You! The better you know yourself, the better & sooner you can detect when an outside source is impinging upon you. Learn to ask certain questions like "I got plenty of sleep: why am I so drained?", or "Where is my irritability coming from? Why am I sabotaging my relationships?", or (the one I'm asking right now), "Why are my fingers so spastic on the keyboard? I usually type much better than this"! (I just finished challenging the delusions of a little androgynite on a chat forum, and it thinks it's getting even. There's no skill in that one).
Where was I? Oh Yeah:
Self-Knowledge let's you know when you're being attacked & how. The real trick, at this point, is to be certain it's an attack. My first occult teacher always said "Blame Yourself First". Why mention this? Sometimes it's Diet, sometimes it's a self-destructive streak, sometimes it's simply a past association that you didn't realize had such a strong effect on you. You don't want to go deluding yourself into thinking that so-and-so did this to you, and you must retaliate, when really it was just "a bit of bad beef" (~Charles Dickens). We're talking the BIG Picture, here, my friend. Not just the short-run. You still have Karma to deal with! (Note: Those of you having meditated on the "One Mind" aspect of Telepathy are probably beginning to see the Roots of Karma. For those that haven't, we'll be getting into that after we cover telepathy, as a whole).
This is going to be a very, very long topic to cover, so I'll have to take it in two parts, if not more. We should have dealt with this sooner, but what can you do. In a classroom setting, I broach this subject early on, as soon as my students are able to see auras. Once you can see those, you can see ghosts, and a plethora of other "Moths" (Moths: any astral fauna attracted by your energies). Once you can see them, they notice that you've noticed them. The act of Observing, as you recall, asserts their existence. The emotional response you have to seeing them creates a kind of loop! You see them, you emit an emotional response in their direction, and they feel it. If it scares you, all the worse! Fear is a very powerful emotion, and most of these Moths feed on emotion. It may not be their favorite flavor, but it's still food! They'll do anything to keep the meal-ticket going. If they find your shielding weak enough to get through, then you just became a Salad Bar, as they tweak your moods to get their favorite flavor! Closing your eyes won't help you.
Let me give you an easy one, if I haven't already (And PLEASE let me know if I'm repeating myself, and just don't see it!):
The favorite Stand-By: The Double Termination Quartz Crystal!
Beloved throughout the ages, this tiny talisman has been adored by, and has adorned, many a magical practitioner. Prized for it's crystalline structure, it is used to polarize & filter the aura. Any energy imposed upon a crystal is translated into an electro-mechanical vibration. It sheds electrons in keeping & in time with it's atomic arrangement & frequency. This is called the piezoelectric effect. It the reason why crystals are used in L.A.S.E.R.s (Today, they just call them "lasers" ~L~). The light stimulates the crystal, and the crystal emits electrons with the light, amplifying the wattage of the beam (but I digress).
It's the same concept here. Any force applied to a crystal results in the shedding of electrons. Hit it with a hammer, and it will spark (ONCE!). Glass is not the same as a crystal. The matter in a crystal is arranged in accordance to it's molecular composition, while glass is more like a soup of matter. They may both be silicon-oxide, but they aren't both Crystals. (Keep that in mind when buying your first crystal ball, after this).
Why Double-Termination? (Glad you asked!)
The Double-Term is grown, free-floating from the side of the geode, suspended from another crystal, by it's side. Both ends of the crystal are naturally clear. It's believed that the clarity of points plays a factor. Energy comes in from the sides, for the most part, and is emitted through the points, filtered by the crystalline array, and enhanced as it leaves the points. It helps to think of it emissions like a see-through Magnet, with two poles radiating an energy field. This field is fed by the Aura. Take the crystal off, and only the weakest emanations can be perceived.
Why Not a "Lazer-Point" Double Termination?
A Lazer-Point isn't a true Double-Term. It's any piece, cut to look like a bright, shiny Double-Term. The cutting process has no reguard for the arrangement of atoms in the geometric alignment of the crystal. Therefore, the angle of the stone has nothing to angle of the alignment. There's no certainty that it's even quartz!
If you live near any kind of mining operations, you're bound to find Double Termination Quartz at rock-bottom prices! Just don't go to a "New Age Store" to buy them. They put way to high a price-tag on them, because they know what you want them for. Go to a rock shop.
I find that these work best when hung from a leather thong, around the neck, in line with the "Conceptual Vessel" meridian line, right over the Heart Chakra. (In laymen's terms: Worn on a leather string, like a necklace, hanging down to your sternum).
