"Steal This Book of Shadows"
ver 2.0 Page 17 (Brought To You By,...)
Quite frequently, I've wondered how difficult it would be to sit back and describe breathing to someone who had no knowledge of it. This is like that. Astral projection, or "Ghosting", runs in my family. My mother had nine kids, and would check on them in her sleep. She just wouldn't take her body along for the ride. Look at it through my eyes, and try to imagine the Spectral Form of your mother walking the halls of your home, and fitting that into your image of a "Normal Childhood". You loose a lot of friends in grade school when you bring this up at lunch. My first experience with it was spontaneous. It's easy as a child, for reasons that aren't entirely obvious.
By now, you've seen the aura, and learned to shape & expand it ("Fill The Room"). You've gotten in touch with your temporal lobes, and have broadened & cross-referenced your pallet of senses. All we need do now is put it all together, right? Well, sorta' There's a mind-set we have to establish, first. There are two theories as to the "True Execution of Astral Projection" One school of though asserts that the Soul/Spirit/Consciousness actually leaves the body, in a vehicle composed of nothing but aura/astral essence. The other (Mine) is that the astral body serves as nothing more than extension of the senses, giving the appearance of motion, as in closed-circuit probe (Only with a better interface). The reason I bring this up is that "Belief Can Kill". We've all heard the story of the man who says "Today is a good day to die", walks to the edge of the village, sits down, and wills them-self to die. Now, imagine that you're 'certain' that your 'silver cord' is broken, and you're trapped in your astral body. The effect will be the same. You could be so convinced that your "soul" is lost from your body that the effect could kill you. Let's not let that happen!
Here is how we're going to start. Small steps. First, cleanse the room you'll be working in. I suggest a nice Purification/Consecration Incense. If you insist on using Sage & Sweet-Grass, don't do this in an enclosed space. The traditional use was outdoors, where it wouldn't induce asphyxiation! Even a sweat-lodge has openings, and there it was used to induce an altered state. (We're looking at doing it ourselves, without "Tinkertoys".) If you've been practicing a while, you may already have a cleansed & protected area. If not, here's a protection spell I've used with good results. (If you're new to Occultism, this may be outside of the scope of your current practices. Find one that works for you). Here's the link: ~SPELL~ Secondly, reduce the lighting to the room to a relaxing level. Some people prefer total darkness. Next, find a comfortable posture. Some people prefer to perform this feat laying, while others, like myself, prefer a seated position on a high-backed chair. If you choose laying down, avoid the bed, as this can allow you to slip of to sleep in an Alpha state. Remember my warnings against that?( See Concentration). Bring yourself to a meditative state. Strong Concentration & Quiet Mind. Assert your Aura. Expand and Contract your aura, like you do with the Fill-The-Room exercise, but "Breath with it", expanding with each inhale, and as you exhale, contracting back into you. Each time it contracts, force it to resemble your physical form, more and more. Once you're satisfied with the shape of this auric shell, change from expanding the aura to energizing the aura. With each inhalation, the first layer of the aura becomes more dense, more stable, more solid. Feel the auric field become so dense that it causes the hairs on your arms and neck to stand up. Assert your connection with your aura to your temporal lobes. To some this resembles the dissolution of the physical form. To others it feels like changing size, from the smaller physical form to the larger astral body (Let's call it what it is. The Aura is the Astral Body you'll be using). Once you're certain of the perspective-shift, open your "Eyes". Not your physical eyes. The 'eyes' on your astral body. This can be unsettling, as sometimes the eyes react differently. Some report seeing through One perspective, like a Cyclops. Others have described "Eye-Head", like their whole head was a huge eye, seeing in all directions at once. That should be enough to
practice with. I'm writing this late at
night. I hope this is enough to get you started.
