Astral Projection: Better Pointers!
Part 2

(Brought To You By,...)

A student from our open classes asked for more information. If it can help him, there's a good chance others can make use of it as well.

"Astral travel is a big goal of mine that I have been taking some steps to achieve. I have been primarily using steal this book and notes that I have taken in class for reference as a lot of other sources are either very vague or sound a lot like bullshit.

"Anyway, it’s been awhile since I’ve tried but I was wondering if you had any tips that haven't already been mentioned in steal this book or that I may have missed while I was away. I’m assuming one's ability to manipulate their aura is the cornerstone here? Anyway, any tips etc. would be helpful.

PS, do moon phases possibly play into this ability/phenomena?"

There are a lot of books out there that don't appear to make the distinction between astral projection & lucid dreaming. One can lead to the other, merely by visualizing a "door to the physical word", and walking through it. It's value is only proportionate to your certainty of or in that threshold, so the less said on the validity of that door, the better.

Still, what we need here are good solid tips for Locking-On to your Astral/Auric-body, strengthening it, and disassociating it from the physical.

This is where we start taking a much deeper look into these techniques: The broad strokes are over, by the second page.

Locking On: If you've been doing your Aura Sight Exercises, you know the parameters of your Aura. Grab your orange background (Sheet, piece of construction paper, I even have a student that uses an Orange Pilates ball). Hold it in your lap, and place your hand in front of it. Tune in to the Sight, and see the edge of your aura; simply the first layer.

Holding your hand up (Left Hand is preferred, and we'll cover why later, as we dig into Somatic Elements further), and seeing the first layer corona, touch the edge of it with the flat of your right index finger. You should feel a light brushing, as though the surface was a meniscus of water. It's akin to the brushing of the softest cat's fur, with the tingles of  electricity, and the ripples of water. That's how it hits me, anyways. This is a very, very subtle sensation, so don't try to force it. Just be open to it. It can be as difficult as trying to smell roses in a Farter's Convention!

Doing this helps you get a greater certainty of what it's like to feel & sense through just the aura. When you're projecting, that's all you'll be using. You need to get used to it, and get it under control.

Strengthening The Aura: Well, you've seen the Chakra Charts, at the top of pages 9 & 10.  Hell! Every page has a mini-version in the Book Symbol. You'll find an artistic version there. Click the left image, on page 9, and it will expand for easier use. Compare it to the book image, and the chart on page 10, and you'll start to get where I'm going. We need to activate the chakras in greater depth.

Assume your favorite meditation posture (Sitting in a Lotus, Reclining in a lazy-Boy, or anything you've been having success with), but I suggest you begin the habit of meditating in a posture conducive to astral projection. The fewer changes, at this stage, the better. Once you get used to AP/OOBE-ing/"Ghosting", then you can start working on applying "Duress" to your practices.

Close your eyes, and focus on where these chakras are 'supposed to be' in your body. I say "Supposed to be" because not everyone is identical: "If we were all in the middle of the Bell-Curve, it Wouldn't BE a Bell-Curve"! You need to find where they sit in YOU!

Once you've gotten into the right "Head Space", start at the root chakra, and visualize the color red. YOUR Color Red. Your first impression of the word "Red", when you think or hear the word. "Move that color through your body", or simply feel the boundaries of your aura fill with that shade, like a jar of Red water. Be sensitive to the impressions, ripples, and reactions of your aura. If you feel a localized change, that's the reaction of your chakra to the insinuation of that color. Meditate on that 'localized sensation'. Savor it. Get "In Touch" with it (Damn! THAT sounded "70's"!)

Do this with all Seven Chakras; each with their respective hues. Read through Pages 9 & 10 for guidelines, and even check to see if you're a "Purple Crown" or a "White Crown" Chakra person. Let's straighten this one out early!

Next. Intensify it:  Now that we have the chakras, located, it's time to charge them individually. The benefit is (at least) four fold. Simply knowing where they are stimulates them. Charging them with color respective to their association charges them. Contemplating them helps to align them. Meditating on them gives greater control over them. Using Sound, Color, and Meditative Triggers with them gives you greater reaction time with them in spell casting & psychic work. Let's get to it.

Charging Them: You know where they are now, so you can repeat the exercise as above, but this time, when you fill your aura with the appropriate color, imagine it as water. Imagine that "Water" to be the proper color to the chakra you're working with. Feel that color infuse you, with a sustainable yet firm level of pressure. Contemplate the chakra as a water balloon with a valve, cutting it off from the aura as a whole. When you feel the aura is as saturated as you feel comfortable with, open that valve, and direct the color into the chakra. As the chakra engorges with color, be aware of it moving faster & faster. If it feels like it's moving too fast for comfort (and it can make one light-headed), simple close that imaginary valve, and let the remaining "Color Charge" dissipate through your skin.

Never work faster or harder than your comfort level. If you push to the point of pain or trauma, in any pursuit, you run the risk of negative association. Nowhere is that more debilitating than in the pursuit of Occult Power!

Contemplating them: When you have moved through each chakra, from root to crown, sit a while, and feel the signals your body is sending you. Like yoga, you have altered the way, degree, and intensity of experience that passes through your body. For many, this is their first experience as more than simply being a physical person. It can be very traumatic, and your transition from occult practice to mundane practice shouldn't be rushed. Savor your feelings, these new impressions, and take a while to grow accustomed.

You need to be "Okay with" the new levels your chakras are being introduced to. If this is the first time you've done anything like this, you will notice that previous skills are a little cross-wired, or amplified, or even slightly diminished. It's to be expected, but it will balance out and stabilize over a few days. You've just changed your energy levels.

Also, through contemplation & awareness, they will balance to one another, and even improve alignment. You can also expect changes in intuitive ability & reasoning, interpersonal relationships, physical relationships, and more! There are certain methods of Second Chakra Control that can produce cascade orgasm in your partner, and even sustained orgasm for the both of you, as you pass second-chakra release energy back & forth like a wave (but that's for the advanced class ~Wink!~).

The benefits & changes are wide and varied. In fact, they're too wide and varied for the scope of readers attending these posts. This is a good time to start a new section of observations in your Own "BoS".

Meditating on them: A lot like the last entry, but this insists upon a more controlled environment. You need to have the time & place to shut off every other thought and stimulus, and focus solely on the chakra of concern at the moment. You need to approach it like meeting a child, or tending a baby chick. It's weak, inexperienced at it's job, and capable of being a great force in this world once it's trained-up a bit. This is akin to the law of Personification, in that, though it's still you, it's a small part of you, an under-developed 'you'. Best to approach it like you would 'you-as-a-child', but as a 'you' specializing in it's associated attributes & abilities.

I've written before about the joys & power of starting drawing energy from the Crown Chakra, and on down to Root. That's "Flying". We need to start by "Walking", so we'll start with Root, again.

As with above, perform the same tasks. The list above can be done anywhere, and silently. You can perform those exercises in a quiet lobby or a crowded airport concourse. When Meditating on them, you need to be somewhere with fewer distractions and interruptions. Along with the above exercises, we're going to add the rest of the list....

Sound: I hope you can hum or sing! Baring that, a musical instrument will help out here. (Singing would be best, for greater flexibility of notes). "Root" averages-out as Middle-C, right? That's how a lot of people 'feel' it. You need to know how YOU feel it. Start by humming/playing/imagining Middle-C. Don't know what it sounds like? It's "Doe", in that "Sound of Music" Musical. You remember: "Doe, a dear, a fe-male dear. Ray, a drop of golden sun,"? That's the one! Start with "Doe". Fluctuate the note, up and down the scale, until you begin to experience a reaction around where the root should be. Some experience it like a dense lump. Others feel a sympathetic vibration, along with a fuzzy tickling.

Once you've found it, use that note as a mantra. Even better is the Seed Sound (See the chart again), repeated In That Note. If it's too high for that sound, drop an octave. If that's too low to get a reaction, cut the "Seed Sound". The note is more important, as we explore "The Law of Words" in depth. "Words" are as Mantras, but it's more important that the Sound is there, more than words that mean nothing to you.

Color: You've played with color, in the "Contemplating" exercise. Now, in meditation, we're going to intensify it. Perform the 'filled with color' visualization, again, but this time, visualize thinker, fuller, More! Alter the color, a little at a time, to what you see as a "Powerful"
shade of that color. The "Crayola" version doesn't thrill everyone (It sure doesn't thrill me), so try variations: Electric, neon, pastel, or any variation of hue that grabs you. Test the reactions. If it's positive, keep doing that. If it's lackluster, or just falls flat, try a different avenue or approach. It's about finding what works for you!

Meditative Triggers: This is kinda' like a post-hypnotic suggestion. Think of a "Thing" (Image, word, sound, etc) that reminds you of the Intent of the chakra. You should have a word or image that, when you think or say it, you are immediately Back in that Charged Chakra State. Combinations are good to move up to, as well. Some people have a song. I like the Phrase "Back on the Clock", for a full charge. Occasionally, I use the opening bars of "Thunderstruck". It helps a lot.

The point is that, under duress, it's hard to focus, let alone concentrate. With a trigger, you are not-only charged where you need it, but are snapped into a concentrative state.
During your meditations, take a moment, and find a personal trigger that relates directly to the thoughts, feelings, and impressions that associated to the chakra you're meditating on. As you progress, and move to combinations of chakras (root & sacral, root & heart, etc,...), create a separate mental trigger. It can be abstract, like the image of a child's toy fire truck, or as direct an association as Crowley's Triune Resonance (with Throat, Solar-Plexus & Root), and the seed sounds as a single-package.

Disassociating it: You will, undoubtedly be experiencing sensations as a result of these meditations. Not only physically, but energetically. The ability to isolate the edge or "surface" of your aura, at it's different levels, has by now borders on RSPK. Some (like myself) who've done these exercises, find that objects start falling over, electronics go 'on-the-fritz', etc, in response to simple emotional reactions.

        It's you doing it.
These exercises have been geared towards making your aura stronger & tangible. If you go back to
Locking On , now, you'll feel the difference I'm talking about.

Now, assume the meditative posture you'll be using for projection. The best are deep reclining positions, if not flat-out supine. Try and sit upright, and you may come back to find your body 'ears-to-knees' (Now THAT'S Relaxation!"), so don't even think about starting out from a standing posture, this early. Later on, you'll develop to the point of multi-level consciousness, where you're out with friends & Ghosting at the same time. "Today is not that day"! That requires a level of cognition of the respective levels of the aura.
Let's do that now:

Shift your meditations from within to without. The actual layers of the aura. Not simply individually, but cumulatively. Each one has it's own frequency, density, and texture. Explore these levels, as well as the physical level. Explore the layers of your own body, first, if that helps. Feeling the difference within can be a great stepping stone for easier transition for recognizing the outer layers, away from the skin. Sensing bone from blood, from skin from hair, are great transition stages that not only keep you from rushing through it (a bad thing), but also help you to relax your body even further & deeper into a meditative state.

The layers of the aura will be & feel most dense at the closest layer, and more subtle and harder to lock-on to at the outer. Again: There are Buddhist Practices that claim Seven Layers to the Aura, but my experience has only perceived Three. If you find more than me, go with it. Explore those levels of perception.

In the art of astral projection, you will be "dropping the layers" like ballast, shifting from one layer, and perceiving through It, to another, and perceiving through that. The shift for many is unperceivable as anything other than "Becoming Lighter" in a fluid transition, with no discernable (whew! I almost said "Perceivable") layers, simply gradual transition. It is merely experienced as "Sending 'Ectoplasm' back to the body". If this mental model works for you, do it. You are a unique person, and just because I can't wrap MY mind around it, it doesn't mean it won't run circles around my techniques for you! (See "Law of Pragmatism")

The first and hardest layer to drop is the Physical. It's home, right? It literally is "Where Your Heart Is", and it was ever a point of anxiety for me. I found myself always tensing-up as I began to rise, undoing everything, and resulting in mild panic. My advice is to take your time. To rush this is like forcing a fart. It's really just a plain bad idea!

This is where we find ourselves turning back to the other pages, with the "Bulky Models" of Astral Projection, started way back on pages 17 Through 20.

Did I miss anything?

OH YEAH!
"PS, do moon phases possibly play into this ability/phenomena?"

The moon effects people in dramatically different ways. In this procedure, it should help, if you keep your focus on certain elements inherent in it. Energy levels are up, but some see this as "raging waters" in the astral plane. Surf's Up! Harness & employ this new energy front as it builds. Don't get too attached to it, though, as whatever waxes also wanes, and when the tide rolls back out, you could be left high & dry. Take the waxing phases as an opportunity to learn to sense, respond-to, and compensate-for varying energy flows. You get Thirteen Chances at self-improvement, every year.

The tide also carries in "Other Things". As this energy front builds, even the weakest "Moths" are well fed & greedy. (I'm currently doing better research on "Astral Ecology", and more, at the behest of another "Q&A" Letter).
I suggest you spend the later week of the waxing moon through the Gibbous-Waning just prepping (Tai-Chi, Meditations, Psychic Self-Defense), if you're concerned about the influx of potential predators, or chaotic terrain. After Waxing Gibbous, things should be pretty "Low Key", by comparison.

I Hope That Helps!
NOW You Know why people dedicate whole books to the topic!
