"Looks Like
Dog-Shit" When the conscious mind looks at two objects, the pattern-discerning elements break it into two forms: What it Is & What it's LIKE. When a witch or wizard looks at an object, in spellcasting, all they see is "This IS That". The similarity of two objects becomes a link to the person, object, place, or concept that the object was chosen to represent. This is one of the time-honored, if not stereotypical tools of magic, be it hedge-magic or high-magic. The voodoo practitioner with her voodoo doll, or the witch with her wax poppet, are the two most common images. The Talisman used to summon an entity is another. Both of these extremes still use an object, symbolic in purpose but related in imagery, to increase the connection to the intended subject. The dowser will use a map & pendulum for this effect, while the Psionics Technologist will employ a map, wired in series, to his "Hieronymus Device" (If I get any requests, I'll post the schematics & patent in "The Starving Sorcerer's Library"). If one is casting a spell to attract money, having money as a "Similarity Connection" is the key. One might argue that this falls under "Contagion", but as the two were not connected, directly, in solid form, it is hard to say (More on Contagion, next). My favorite is a Gold Kennedy Half-Dollar, but the hoodoo "Silver/Mercury Dime" standard is an historic staple for spells of that sort. As it resonates with the Collective Unconscious ( "Infinite Perspectives"), using that coin may have greater efficacy (See how Laws combine for momentum?). It's Better/Easier to work with the Akashic Mind than against it!
"A Thing! Do you have a thing of theirs?" ~The Witch Seer, in "The Thirteenth Warrior" Remember when we discussed Auras, and how the first lay rubs-off on to everything we touch? The more we handle an object, the more we imprint on it. Specifically, we imprint ourselves on to it. A possession of a person, a stone from a landscape, or a jar full of sea water, a pair of mouse-ears from an amusement park: these items all carry the energy that the person, persons, or places imbue upon them. These energies are as radio frequency patterns, where the object is attuned to the owner or location. Hair, fingernails, blood, & secretions as Contagion Connections, are as old as magic it's self. They are the strongest links of this type. If a persona is your target, there is nothing like hair from a hair-brush, or barring that, a discarded butt from an ashtray. They carry the person on them as if their home-address were written on it.
PHOTOS: This one I've seen argued both ways. Is it contagion or similarity? Is it just an object that Reminds you of them, or does it really carry part of the soul? Is a persons shape, 'picture-perfect', as strong a pattern as to qualify as Contagion? Some talented witches are versed enough in aura sight as to be able to see the very energy, in a photograph, as they would receive it from an object. I have my moments where the two are indistinguishable. Still, sometimes, my faith in the "Photo=Soul" Connection falters, and it's just "Similarity" to me. I blame me more than the photo. Experiment for your self, and decide.
NOTE: Again, I feel I must say that, though I talk of people as targets a LOT, it is not that I am condoning out-and-out martial attack! It is just that the concept is easier to address, in this context. I have faith in my readers that they will see the concepts and be able to apply them to their own, personal purposes. These techniques aren't only useful in directing energy, but also for homing-in on a person, or object, or locale for the intent of remote viewing. If you need to reach someone, and have never met them, "a thing" is just what you need to bridge the gap.
