"Time has come today" ~"The Chambers Brothers

Time:

“To every action there is an equal & opposite reaction”.

“A is followed by B, followed by C”.

“Which came first: The chicken or the egg”?

When we follow this train of logic, as a line of reasoning, we’re dealing with causality. It is the long-held belief that the future comes at us, and the past flows behind us, over the horizon of inaccessibility. Many authors have even gone as far to liken time as a series of boxcars, each one being a single ‘second’ or ‘minute’, and when that span of time passes, we are magically transported to the next. It’s hogwash, really. Others would joke that we are, in fact traveling Backwards in time, as we can see where we’ve been, but not where we’re going. Even more would have us believe that time is a set of dimensions, that our visible & comprehensible Three-Dimensional Universe travels through in a preferred direction (The Future).

The truth is, “Time flows the way we perceive it to flow, and not one bit differently”, and you can quote me on that, too! The passage of time is subjective, but not just simple velocity is the contributing factor. We all place different mile-markers along the way, as reference points, to mark the moments. We have different meters by which we measure our perceptions of time. These perceptions have lead to as many ways of seeing it as there are pairs of eyes doing the looking.

As far as Magic is concerned, how we look at time, or even how we’re able to twist how we look at time, is a very useful tool. By suppressing one ‘time-view’ in favor of another, we can accomplish wonderful things. I wouldn’t presume that these are the only two ways of viewing time, but these are the most common ‘headings’ for time. You may have a yet-further-eschew perspective that opens even greater abilities to your disposal. For now, we'll keep it simple.

Causality:

This is what we westerners (Occidentals) commonly think of as time. Einstein’s relativity is based upon the foundation that “Time Exists”. If it didn’t, everything would be happening at once. This, of course, is a logic based on the idea that anything that happens actually maters. (So steeped, it is, that we never even consider a world where what we did didn’t.). We believe that time runs a linear progression that can be marked by the passage of light through space, per-second, or minute, or year, etc… It’s referred to as “Space/Time”. This is an immutable measurement that has little to no bearing upon the spellcaster.

As spellcasters, we realize that how we perceive time passing is more important.

As well, time being a “Tendency” to travel in a single direction, it doesn’t mean that it is the only direction for information or energy to travel in. This is best considered through “Hawkin’s Time”, where an event has an 'event horizon' that moves at the speed of light in all directions. If time is a direction, then the effects of an event should & would have repercussions to be experienced in the past as well as the future (This is referred to as "Inverse Causality"). This would account for the sensitive mind to receive precognitive data, such as lottery numbers, fatal accidents, and more. Linear time can also be played with, in as much as we readdress “Probability Modification”, as it affects “Infinite Probability/Universes”.

This effect would unleash the spellcaster from the tether of “It’s Already Happened”, and enable them to look at it through the eyes of one with a choice of possible outcomes. Given this model of space/time, one knows that what HAS happened and what one would CHOOSE to have happen is mutable. The events that have lead to you being here now are a choice, and can be changed.

NOTE: I once had a series of seemingly un-related events change dramatically, and a new “Now” manifested before my eyes, after an extremely exhausting "Spell". One could say “You changed parallel universes”, while another would say “I changed the past to alter the present”. Which is true? Which would be “True” or “Vain”? Either is possible, yet sounds egotistical. It is what it is. The real lesson is that it works (We’ll talk more on this in “The Law of Pragmatism”).

One of the other “Laws” that Bonewits & Whitcomb site is “Cause & Effect”. This is a part of causality, but is dependent upon Linear Time, and breaks down when perceived through the eyes of The Tao (More on that in the next page).

“C & E” is a great tool for Spell-Casting Spell-casters (There is an alternative), as it helps one build confidence in their abilities. When one starts out, they invariable start with spells & spell-books. These tested & true spells (not all of them are) are great for getting your feet wet. Cast a spell, and it works. The more you cast the spell AND it works, the more faith you have in spell casting as a whole. “If I do (Cause), then (Effect) must happen”. The more you do this, while asserting Linear Time within your own perspective, the better your results will grow.

Later, you can begin to dissolve your time-perspective into “Now”-Time.

(Is the next page too soon?)
