Unity/ The Web (or The Weave)
Every culture that I have studied in depth has embraced this universal model. Be it an element of human development, or an intrinsic aspect of the universe, the idea that reality is made of connected threads is endemic to metaphysics. The weaving of the fates, the numerous spider-gods, even Tibetan Mysticism, the weave, web, or skein plays out repeatedly. I have heard it spouted as the 100th monkey side effect, even race memory & collective unconscious ripples. I have been told it was Jungian Imagery, drug reactions, and even alien influence. The fact remains that many religio-magical cosmologies embrace this image, model, and logic. It bears examination. It's not even so much a case of simply the esoteric, but the empirical manifestation, as well. Numerous cultures, dramatically separated, have joined in on geographically incorporating this phenomenon as well as embracing it within their spirituality. "The belief that all things are connected".
That's an over-simplification, at it's very least. Ley Lines: For centuries (an Understatement), stone circles, standing stones, and dolmen have littered the Erin, British, & European Landscapes. Theories of origin have been wide & varied, from Atlanteans & Druids, to Giants, Aliens, & Gods. Their purposes are hypothesized as ritual circles, calendars, and (in at least one way-out telling) alien landing gear. One group saw through the stones, and noticed something more… The Old Straight Track Club, founded in the late 1800’s, saw how they were placed. They noticed that certain landmarks were aligned with the stone monuments. They saw how rock, river, valley, and mountain were connected & aligned through the placement of these standing stones. They also saw how the very ground it’s self was shaped to lead from one ring, to another stone, to another arched dolmen. They traced the lines from natural landmarks, and saw the patterns: Things seemed to "Flow" naturally, and line-up preternaturally. Nazca Lines: (Everybody break out your copy of "Chariots of The Gods", now) Many claim that the Gods, UFOs, or worshipers of either were responsible for these pieces of agricultural architecture, but the truth is that no one will know for sure. What is known is that lines, shapes, and figures are carved into the landscape, visible in whole only from the sky. Areas that bear a frightening resemblance to contemporary landing fields & airports are visible in far too many pictures and videos for you to NOT know what I'm talking about! What they look like to me isn't what's important: It's that fact that these two Neolithic Civilizations, 1/3rd of the globe apart, and dramatically different in culture, had both carved & marked the terrain as a form of expression. Whether it be to some divine source or magical practice, the fact remains that something drives man to certain acts, no matter how remote.
Feng Shui It seems odd to me that this cosmological decorating scheme has hit so big, here in the USA, but if we look back to the previous two entries, it starts to show a pattern. This isn't merely rich people playing at spirituality by throwing money at it. This isn't finding God by blowing big bucks on new furniture. This is about how energy moves through a space: Spiritual Energy. It isn't just Japan, but China, and Britannia, and main-land Europe. "Dragon Lines", they're called, in so many places I forget. My favorite telling is how Merlin saw them intersecting in the soil where a castle engineering project kept failing, horribly. The problem is that there are so DAMNED Many swindlers on this frontier that you can't trust a one of them. You're better off doing it yourself. How? This is (yet again) where The Sight comes in handy! "Witches don't see things that aren't there. They see what's REALLY There!" (Paraphrased Terry Pratchett).
Simply start by practicing this technique on the sky. You should very quickly see the lines of force within the sky. "Magnetic Field Lines-of-Force"? Perhaps. It's hard to say. The way the magnetic fields of the Earth vary from geographic north, I had a great deal of difficulty sorting that one out. I SUCK BAAAAD at Geography, I'm sorry to say. We all have our weaknesses: Now you know one of mine. ~Grin~ Once you can see them in the air, I suggest you lower your perspective. If possible, I suggest a High vantage point with a goodly view of the natural terrain. Examine how the empirical landscape looks, and then employ The Sight and re-examine it. You should quickly see the results.
The spiritual aspects are harder to address. When dealing in Tibetan mysticism, the Web or Weave is central to the practice of teleportation, levitation, and bi-location. The world is perceived as a series of intersecting connected points, and your location is simply a matter of decision. If you choose to be elsewhere along the web, the web accommodates. All of the points being connected, your location has always been a simple matter of decision. Quantum Theory supports this idea with the "Single Particle" theory. It was ascertained that in shooting two particles in opposite directions, modifying the trajectory of one altered the trajectory of the other instantaneously. That's an over-simplification of the process, but you get the gist: The Two Particles are Connected. The conclusion is that, with all symptoms taken into consideration, there is strong evidence that all particles are the same particle, simply in differing time-states, and moving in different directions along the 4th-dimensional Time-Line. We find this web-imagery further still in the phenomenon of spontaneous astral projection. The Silver Chord is endemic in the reports. Always, there is a translucent tether connecting the astral body to the physical, at the solar plexus. In near-death experiences, I can't recall a single incident where this has been observed. (Hmmmm.... Food for Thought!) Fate! Ever is it a weave, a thread, a tapestry! Spider Gods are in too many cultures to be ignored! Even Karma is presented as a web: each person an intersection of lives, each Life an intersection of events. What is the Kabalistic Tree of Life but a web of paths? Even the very etching of the pentacles and stars bespeak the web. Meditate on Ygddrasil, and the boughs above: Look & See! The Point I'm getting to (and can't seem to put into words right now (I blame the current "Stone Test" for the aphasia) ), is that this pattern, both spiritual & physical, is far too prevalent & wide-spread in metaphysics to ignore. It is an imagery & attribute to be employed and exploited. If it resides in the collective unconscious, there must be a universal aspect to the human condition that connects this, the physical world, and the spiritual, within the occult! When one claims to be living "With Spirit", or that they "Walk in Spirit", or are "Giving Over to Spirit" (Giving Up, and letting the universe make their decisions for them), they are giving in to this Law. When they work in Covens & Circles, chanting in groups, praying in pews, they are "Pulling at the strands" in unison. They're Shaking The Web. They are adding energy to this connection. Energy You can Use! This interconnectedness, in either Jungian Archetypal Keys or as a 'concrete' element of the spiritual make-up of humanity, validates and enervates the process we call Spell-work or Magic. We ARE all connected! Remember that, next time you think about Cursing someone: It's like shooting yourself in the Soul! "THAT'S gonna' leave a mark!" ~Carmin, in the Peanut Gallery
